Staff Reporter || Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Saching Prue has sought the support of the Local Government Division to improve connectivity in remote areas of the hill region while protecting its environment and natural resources.He made the call during a courtesy meeting with Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moin Khan at his office in Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday afternoon.Saching Prue, prince of the traditional Bohmong Circle in Bandarban, was warmly received by Dr Abdul Moin Khan upon arriving at the Local Government Division.During the meeting, the two ministers held a cordial discussion on various important areas of cooperation between their respective ministries.Referring to the government’s continued efforts to improve connectivity across the country, including the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Saching Prue said the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), under the Local Government Division, was playing a vital role in ensuring safe and potable water supplies in the hill region.He expressed appreciation for such initiatives by the Local Government Division and thanked the ministry for its efforts.Highlighting the potential and existing challenges of the hill region, Saching Prue said many roads in remote areas of the Chittagong Hill Tracts were still unpaved and earthen, causing severe difficulties for local people travelling on them during the monsoon and rainy days.“The people of the hill region are extremely hardworking. I hope the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts will continue to receive the necessary support from the local government to ensure easier and safer mobility,” he said.Expressing his support for the initiative and proposals put forward by the Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moin Khan said his ministry and the Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry would work together to improve the livelihoods of people in both the hills and the plains and accelerate the country’s overall economic growth.
